WhatsApp new privacy policy : -We all know that on the beginning of 2021 WhatsApp launched its new privacy policy that shocked the users. It landed world’s most popular social messaging app at controversy. The new privacy policy states that WhatsApp will collect all our personal data like our location, IP address, group details, status information, payment details etc. and it will share them with Instagram and Facebook, all technically belonging to Facebook. The main idea behind this is to throw more light on user data privacy and security. As a result people started rethinking about its top alternatives. As people demanded for end-to-end encrypted message service as WhatsApp messages were, Telegram & Signal saw a huge rise in demand.

But WhatsApp is the leading social messaging app & getting adapted to any new alternative is not that easy. It takes a long to adapt & getting your entire family/friends/office circle on the same platform is tedious & might be impossible too.
Fast forward, now WhatsApp took a shocking step as a response to those who won’t agree to the latest privacy policy.
What happens if we reject new terms?
The users who will not agree to the newest terms & conditions of WhatsApp will be unable to send or receive messages until they do so. The deadline given by WhatsApp is 15 May,2021 which means if you don’t accept their policy you won’t be allowed to use the app. Such users’ account will be listed as “inactive” & will get deleted after 120 days. If you install the app without agreeing then calls & notifications might work for few weeks & then inactivated.
WhatsApp claims that the conversation will be still end-to-end encrypted & no personal messages will be leaked. This new privacy policy update was taken to actually aim at enabling payments to be made to businesses. And this sharing of data is not new. Facebook & Instagram have been doing it since ever; and WhatsApp also belongs to Facebook.
