Whatsapp Launches “Disappearing Message feature”
Whatsapp launches ‘Disappearing Message’ feature. This new feature is all set to be rolled out across all platform by the end of November. The feature is similar to that of Snapchat wherein messages get deleted every time when a user exits and reopen the chats.
However Whatsapp has confirmed that the duration for disappearing message would be 7 days, meaning after 7 days those messages would automatically be get deleted from the chat. Even though it would get stored in chats back-up but upon restoring those back-up the message again would gets deleted.
On choosing 7 days for disappearing message, The company thinks that ,it seems like an appropriate window for its users to finish a particular conversation while giving them the peace of mind that the conversations aren’t permanent. “We’re starting with 7 days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about.
This new feature can be applied on individual chat or for individual contacts and after 7 days the chats from that contact automatically gets deleted , however one can take screenshots of those message and can store it. Disappearing messages which are forwarded to other chat won’t get deleted.
