But why CMF?
CMF was created for the budget segment customers and specifically for Indian customers. The main brand nothing which is the parent owner of this company faced a lot of issues when trying to sell their nothing branded phones in this market, since the majority population won’t trust a new brand in a mid range segment that easily. So now they are trying to make a name for them in the budget segment market with the CMF phone 1. Don’t get me wrong, Nothing phones are good though, it’s just the pricing which is keeping them away from getting called a flagship killer.
Previously they have been making chargers, cables, earbuds, smartwatches for a year now. And now for the first time this brand has launched it’s very first phone in the market and also with some great and unique things as well. You can change the back panel of the phone and stick a different one.You get to see 3 different accesories currently which you can attach to the back of your phone which are a kickstand, a card wallet and a sling to wrap it around your neck or hand.
Specifications of CMF Phone 1
CMF Phone 1 comes with the latest budget segment processor from mediatek – MediaTek Dimensity 7300. It has 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of storage which is and UFS 2.2 storage. There is option for external storage which can go upto 2TB. For graphics you get to see Mali-G615 MC2 GPU.
For the display it has a 6.67 inch super amoled display with a pixel density of 395ppi. It has a peak brightness of 2000 nits and it is very much visible in broad day light. You will have no trouble in using during the daytime. And lastly the refresh rate is 120Hz.
For the camera it has a dual camera setup at the back. You can to see a 50Mp f1.8 wide angle IMX882 sensor as the primary camera and a 2Mp f2.4 depth sensor. It is a decent camera setup at this price point and it can provide you usable photos like for a profile pic or if you wanna send some documents to your colleague. For the front it has a 16Mp wide angle shooter of f2.0.
For the battery it has a 5000mAh battery and it has quick charging support of 33W. It can charge 50% in 20 minutes. It has dual sim hybrid slot for sims and sd card and has all necessary sensors that are needed are present.
Should you consider CMF phone 1?
It is a tough question to answer since the brand is new but considering it’s parent company is Nothing which has performed really well since it’s launch gives a hope that it will also continue with their sub brand CMF. The specifications of the phone are decent for a phone that’s priced at 15000 INR but the changable back cover thing and accessories are basically a gimmick. If you are purchasing a phone for 15000 you will not purchase a back for 1200-1400 just to change the colour of your phone. That’s a very ridiculous thing in my opinion. Specs and UI wise this is a nice phone for the price but currently due to overhype the price has risen to 17999 which is very bad because there are better options to choose from with such pricing.
