As part of UTSA’s ongoing efforts to improve technology to make it more user-friendly for students, UTSA migrated from Gmail to Microsoft 365 environment (Outlook) in October 2021.

What is the procedure for recovering your UTSA Blackboard account?

The UTSA Passphrase portal has been developed to provide some important account access-related services to students in case they forget the myUTSA ID or password.

To reset their passwords, students must set up their passphrase reset contact information at https://passphrase.utsa.edu/.

Resetting a Blackboard password is as follows:

Click the Reset your Passphrase link on the official passphrase portal.

To receive the passphrase reset code, enter your myUTSA ID and select Email or Phone.

You will receive a code for resetting your passphrase after clicking the Submit button.

On the passphrase reset screen, click the I have a reset code link. This will open a new form where you will enter your Network ID and “reset code”. Click Submit.

You can now create a new passphrase for your account.

What is the process for recovering the myUTSA ID?

Click on the Recover myUTSA ID link on the official passphrase portal.

Select one of the contact methods from Email and Phone and enter it in the new space.

In the next section, select the student option and enter your birth date, month, phone number, and city of birth.

After clicking Verify, your information will be verified and you will receive your myUTSA ID.

Managing contact information:

If you are visiting the Passphrase portal for the first time, you will have to update your profile by entering your contact information. This will give you access to self-service password resets.

Click the Manage Contact Information link on the official passphrase portal.

Log in with your myUTSA ID and passphrase on the next screen.

When you log in, edit your profile and enter your valid and working contact information, such as your email address and phone number.

What is DUO Authentication and how does it work?

In order to set up duo authentication, you need to access the “Manage/Set up DUO Authentication:” link on the UTSA passphrase web portal. Once setup, you will need to complete one extra verification step after logging in.

If you wish to add your smartphone to DUO Authentication, you must download the Duo mobile app, which is available for both Android and iOS.

After downloading the app, please follow the steps below.

Click the Manage/Set up DUO Authentication link on the official passphrase portal.

Enter your myUTSA ID and Passphrase on the login screen, then click Log In.

At the bottom right corner, click the Continue link.

Complete the authentication process by clicking the “Add a new device” link under the UTSA logo.

You will now receive a phone call or push notification every time you want to log in to your smartphone.

Students can also access their Blackboard accounts through the mobile app, which provides all important learning-related services. All information is accessible anytime, anywhere through the app.

Enrollment in a course on UTSA Blackboard

Students can enroll in an online course through the official website. All they need is their UTSA username and password.

The first step is to open the official UTSA website and click the myUTSA link at the top right of the page.

The second step is on the myUTSA page, click the Blackboard Learn link and sign in.

The third step are you will find your Blackboard Learn student dashboard after logging in.

On the left sidebar menu, click Courses.

The fourth step are click the Course Catalogue link at the top right side, then select the category from the Browse categories section and click the Go link to open courses related to that category.

The fifth step are after selecting your category, you will see a list of all courses for that category. Click Enroll after the course ID. The enrollment process has now been completed.

You can join a meeting on Windows by following these steps:

  • To access the Blackboard Collaborate Scheduler, click Tools on the left side of your UTSA Blackboard dashboard.
  • Click Join Room on the Room Details page.
