Are you ready for the next level of high-end displays? Look no further than Samsung’s ViewFinity S9. With stunning visuals and innovative technology, this display is a game-changer in the world of visual entertainment. Whether you’re a gamer, designer, or simply looking to upgrade your home theater system, the ViewFinity S9 offers an unparalleled viewing experience that will leave you speechless.

It looks similar and may use the same panel, but will likely cost less

The ViewFinity S9 monitor was announced by Samsung earlier this week. Samsung seems to be trying to compete with Apple’s Studio Display — at a lower price — and LG’s high-resolution monitors by offering a 5K (5120 x 2880) resolution and an aluminum enclosure. During Samsung’s First Look event here at CES 2023, I had the opportunity to take a look at the ViewFinity S9 up close, and my initial impressions were positive.

There is no doubt that it looks like a professional desk monitor. You get plenty of I/O around back: I count one Thunderbolt 4 port, three USB-C ports, and DisplayPort. You get a matte finish by default (even though you might lose some saturation and sharpness). You can charge laptops with up to 96 watts on the ViewFinity S9.

The 27-inch Samsung display covers 99 percent of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut. I could not tell if there was local dimming by looking at the screen. It’s not terribly surprising since it’s not present on LG’s 5K monitors, and it might be using the same LG Display panel. However, we have not been able to confirm whether it is or if it uses something from Samsung Display.

The detachable 4K SlimFit webcam wasn’t part of the demo, so I can’t vouch for its clarity or how it compares to Apple’s, which, well, you know. In my time with the S9, I was unable to get a good impression of its speakers, as Apple’s monitor has impressive built-in speakers for those who need them.

Samsung’s representative gave me a simulated demo of the calibration process, in which you optimize the ViewFinity S9’s colors using an app on your phone. It will take around 15 minutes to calibrate the real ViewFinity S9, according to what I was told. After it’s finished, you’ll get a report with color accuracy information.

Installation Process and Setup Guide

1. Installation Process and Setup Guide

This guide will walk you through the installation process and setup guide for the Samsung ViewFinity S, a high-end display that is sure to revolutionize the way you use your computer. The first thing you need to do is gather the following materials:

A Phillips head screwdriver
A power drill
A level
A stud finder (optional)
The included mounting hardware kit

Now that you have everything you need, let’s get started!

1. Begin by finding a suitable location for your ViewFinity S. Keep in mind that it should be close to an outlet and away from any potential sources of damage or interference (e.g., windows, doors, heaters). Once you’ve found the perfect spot, use the included level to make sure it is level. If it isn’t, use the adjustment screws on the back of the unit to level it out.
2. Next, mark the four holes for the mounting brackets using a pencil or other marker. It is important that these holes are spaced evenly so that your ViewFinity S will be level when mounted. Use a tape measure to check the distance between each hole before drilling. ǁNow that your holes are all marked out, drill them using a power drill and the appropriate sized drill bit (included in the mounting hardware kit). Be careful not to drill too deeply – just enough so that the.

The mystery of the ViewFinity S9 remains in its price tag.

Apple’s Studio Display begins at $1,599, though LG’s UltraFine 5K can often be found discounted to around $1,150. Will Samsung offer something similar? We do know that the ViewFinity S9 is a great monitor, but with only an HDR600 rating and no local dimming, it’s not likely to turn many heads. This limitation is shared with Apple’s Studio Display too, which lacks both local dimming and reaches only a max brightness of 600 nits.

Samsung’s ViewFinity will come loaded with the same software as its TVs and Smart Monitors, so you’ll be able to access streaming apps as well as productivity software like Google Meet directly. The ViewFinity might be viewed as a bonus by some, but others may have preferred a standard, dumb monitor.

With its new QD-OLED monitors and updated Smart Monitor, Samsung will release the ViewFinity S9 in the coming months.
