Razer is known for making good gaming mice for a very long time and now they are back with another gaming mouse to go 1 step ahead of their competitiors. Razer Cobra is a budget segment mini-standard sized gaming mouse. They previously had a similar gaming mouse in this same category, known as the Razer Viper Mini but it had some flaws so razer fixed that they upgraded the razer viper mini to an entent that they brought the newly razer cobra wired gaming mouse instead of a razer viper mini 2.

So what has been changed?

The newly launched razer cobra has a lighter design and a better sensor. Razer viper mini used to have a weight of 61g where as the new razer cobra has only 58g. The shape has also been slightly changed, the shape was much more lowered and aggressive compared to the cobra. It has a new optical sensor from razer with precise sensitvity adjustments in 50 DPI increments. It is an upgrade from the razer viper mini which allows for more granular adjustments and lower lift-off distance.

Specifications of Razer Cobra

As I have mentioned earlier, the razer cobra comes with an optical sensor which has a maximum DPI of upto 8500. You can adjust the DPI in 50 increments. This sensor is said to be more capable in tracking and precision compared to the razer viper mini’s sensor, although in terms of specs it has 300 IPS of max speed and 35g of max acceleration. It has one onboard memory profile. So if you don’t want to use the razer synapse all the time the onboard memory will come in handy.
It is a wired gaming mouse so you get to see a cable which is fairly long and razer calls it the speedflex cable although I don’t see much of a reason that you need to flex a cable! Jokes apart the cable is good and is tangle free. The dimensions of the mouse are Length: 119.6 mm / 4.71 in, Width: 62.5 mm / 2.46 in and Height: 38.1 mm / 1.50 in.
The mouse feets you get to see here are 100% PTFE feets and they are of very good quality. Razer has always provided good quality mouse feets so this was a known thing.
The razer cobra has Gen 3 optical mouse switches from razer only. These switches are claimed to have a life cycle of 90 million clicks. They are branding it as it will have zero double cliking issues and it has a blistering 0.2 ms actuation with no debounce delay. It has 6 programmable buttons and these can easily be customised with the help of razer synapse software.
It has single zone RGB which dazzles at the bottom and on the razer logo. It is also customisable with the rgb settings in the razer synapse software. Although you can delete the razer synapse software after setting up your mouse settings but I will recomend you to keep it because every time you need to change a saetting you will need it.

Should you buy it?

Razer Cobra is the upgraded version of razer viper mini and currently the razer viper mini has been discontinued so you have no other choice than to go with this if you want a gaming mouse from razer at this particular price point and with such specs that the razer viper mini or the razer cobra has. So to conclude I wil say Razer Cobra is not at all a bad mouse you can definitely go with it, it slightly different in shape and size compared to the viper mini but it’s as good of a mouse as the razer viper mini was.  It’s a good mouse and I saw no flaw in it. I will recomend purchasing it.
