Guys you must have seen lots of different monitors in the market. Some are designed specifically for gaming, some for photo and video editing work, some for colour related work and some specifically for media consumption with features like embedded TV features. But have you ever heard of a monitor designed specifically for the coders out there. Benq brings the RD280U monitor which is being made keeping all the needs of a coder in mind. So if you are a coder than you will definitely like this monitor. Enough of the hype now lets dive in to the specs of this monitor.

Display of the Benq RD280U

The Benq RD280U features a 28.2 inch display. It is a IPS panel with led backlight technology. It has a resolution of 3840×2560 pixels and is a 60 Hz display. The brightness of this monitor is around 350 nits and it has a peak brightness of 400 nits for HDR content. And speaking of HDR it has support for HDR10 and VESA Display HDR 400. And most importantly the aspect ratio here is 3:2 to fit more lines and eliminate the hassle of frequent scrolling. It is a very good 4K display and it is what the coders need the 3:2 aspect ratio. On top of that the colours of this display is also not bad.

It has a native contrast of 1200:1 and color gamut support of 95% P3. It is a display with 1.07 billion colors and the pixel per inch count is 164PPI. It has a gamma range of 1.8-2.6 and HDCP 2.2. So with all these specifications you can understand that if you wanna do some video editing work as well on this monitor you will be able to do it. And you will be able to some color related work as well, if you wish to. Ofcourse that 3:2 aspect ratio will feel odd at times but you will get used to it.

Watching videos and movies on this monitor is also very pleasing on this display as the 4K display with such good contrast, colour accurate and HDR support makes the experience wonderful.

Gaming on this display is not very good though because gaming requires a 16:9 aspect ratio to truly immerseyou into the gaming world. Moreover this display has a response time of 5 ms and the refresh rate is 60 hz which is pretty outdated when it comes to gaming today. And 60 Hz only when you connect it with DP or USB C, If you connect it with HDMI then it will run at 50 Hz. Today even consoles and gaming TVs are also offering 120hz for a smoother experience. So gaming is not a thing you will be liking on this monitor, rest is good.
