The convenience of apex legends cross progression across multiple platforms has become a top demand among Apex Legends players. Whether you’re on console, PC, or Nintendo Switch, here is everything you need to know about the plan for cross-progression.

With Apex Legends now available on everything from Nintendo Switch to Steam, cross-progression is becoming more and more desirable to players. Unfortunately, cross-progression is still not available in Apex Legends, however cross-play is.

The cross-progression feature allows players to connect their accounts across different platforms and access all of their unlocked content from one device to another, rather than having to create separate accounts on different platforms.

The following is everything we know about the future of cross-progression in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends has cross-progression?

PC and console cross-progression is not available for Apex Legends at the moment.

If you play Apex on Origin/EA App, you can link your account to your Steam account and carry over your progress. Likewise, you can carry over progress from previous console generations (e.g. PS4 to PS5).

There is no way to transfer your Apex Legends account between the Xbox lineup of consoles, or the Nintendo Switch. There is no cross-progression between PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox lineups. This differs from Warzone and Fortnite, which offer full cross-platform progression.

It was easier (to implement cross-progression) with Steam because it was at launch, rather than merging saves between Xbox and PlayStation accounts because “users may have multiple accounts to merge or use,” according to former Respawn Game Director Chad Grenier.

A glaring omission in one of the most popular battle royale games on the market.

Is cross-progression coming to Apex Legends soon?

Despite previously stating that cross-progression would be added in 2022, Respawn has confirmed that it has been delayed.

The game director Evan Nikolich said they have “definitely” wanted to add cross-progression, but it is very technical, so they cannot commit to a release date.

Apex Legends will have cross-progression in the future, as Respawn has mentioned on a number of occasions.

During an exclusive interview with Dexerto, Apex Legends game director Steven Ferreira answered the infamous cross-progression question.

The cross-progression is definitely something we’re looking forward to. It was more challenging than expected, and we want to make sure it’s ready. Also, you only get one chance to make something like this work.

Ferreira explained that cross-progression can be implemented in a variety of ways and that they “want to set it up the way we want.”

Ferreira added: “I don’t have a definitive date, but it’s definitely on its way.”

Respawn reaffirmed their commitment to adding cross-progression at the launch of Season 17, explaining they have a Slack group where they discuss it regularly. However, they didn’t specify a date.

What is the expected release date for cross-progression in Apex Legends?

Since Apex Legends initial release in February 2019, it has included a crossplay system across various consoles and PCs. Now, as the game reaches Season 17, the community eagerly awaits one popular feature – cross-progression. Unfortunately, at this point in time, there is no way for players to merge their accounts and progress across different platforms; however, Senior Producer Josh Medan has confirmed that it is “still in progress”. Respawn also stated that they are actively working on bringing this feature to the game.

Is there cross-progression in Apex Legends?

Currently, Apex Legends does not support cross-progression, so your rank, profile, cosmetics, Legend unlocks, and skins cannot follow you.

The only exception is switching from Origin to Steam on PC, where your data will be transferred.
